The game of tennis is an elegant mix of power and finesse – where power has been the hallmark of the game for much too long – think: power serves and short rallies. The days of McEnroe, Connors, and Borg where skill was more important than power have long since passed. Until…
And so it was with utter excitement and standing applause to see an artist – Roger Federer – do his work. The tennis court is his canvas and he knows every inch of every angle of that canvas. He knows the texture and colour of his canvas; he understands it.
The flow of the serve, the deft touch of a drop shot and the crushing forehand. He conserves his energy waiting for the right moment to pounce – and pounce he does, with deliberate aggression. The man is a master of his craft and we are lucky to be here during his reign.
Watching Roger Federer win another Aussie Open was a pleasure beyond any words I could muster (but I will anyway). The pleasure being in watching a man at his peak, conduct himself with such utter poise and elegance to build a canvas of absolute magnificence.
Simply put: poetic expression on a world stage. A man at his peak. A delight to watch.

Let me cut to chase right away: the title to this post says it all.
Most blogs are boring. Dull. Rehashes. Echos. The whole shebang of what I can throw up to describe.
Where has the creativity gone? Has there ever been creativity in blogging … in blogs? Hmm…
If I don’t ever see a “How To …” or “7 Steps to …” titled blog post again then I’ll be a happy man.
Maybe I’m hanging around the wrong corner of the, ahem … let’s say it: the “blogosphere” or has blogs and blogging become so standardized that all the fun, creativity and even experimentalism gone out the door.
I want – yes, I said ‘I Want’ – people, bloggers, individuals to experiment. Blogging gives you the canvas to have your say. Yet, why are so many blogs simply templates of each other?
This canvas that you have full control over is all yours. Take it. Make something. Take a chance.
Experiment. Take a topic and blow it to pieces. Use words like you have never used them before. Take a chance. Let fear and failure be your friend. Take them to your heart and explain to them the situation: you’re about to go on a ride, a ride like you’ve never had before. Be very afraid and then say get lost. Be wary of failure and say: “I don’t care!”
I want to see the next Hemingway … the next Hunter S. Gonzo … the next, well – whatever. Take a chance. Experiment. Be Different.
I’m watching and … waiting.

The Diagnosis: I Am Bored … The Solution: Do Something.
Nice way to start a blog, eh! A first post that details my descent into a spiral of well … whatever, or … is that all there is, or … what’s out there?
And so for the past 5 years I have been running, running at a rapid pace … chasing something and I never found it. But by then it was too late – I hit the wall … running!
But now back to the solution to the diagnosis.
It’s simple. I have dug deep and it has come to me – in globs – I want simplicity. I want minimalism. I want the colours. I want to feel. I want to touch. I want a life.
And so … I want to start living.
I want to taste what life has to offer.
And so welcome to my blog. My name is Martin Neumann, your host and guide on the coming ride. Enjoy!
